The motorcycle that glides so smoothly and freely across the asphalt, often turns into an unwieldy object when it needs to be transported. This is because existing motorcycle trailers are downright user-unfriendly. Just the ramp presents many people with an obstacle sufficiently daunting to say ‘thanks but no thanks’ to. Further, an often-heard complaint is that you basically always need another person to help you secure the bike on the trailer.

At Acebikes, thanks to many years of motorcycle trade we know the problems of transportation better than anyone else. That’s why we decided in 2004 to design our own trailer, to do away with the problems and annoyances once and for all. Following a development process of two years, we now proudly present the DOWN LOADER! 

With the DOWN LOADER, the ramp is a thing of the past. The motorcycle trailer comes with a loading deck of 55 mm thick that descends fully to street level. Anyone can now ride any kind of motorcycle straight onto the trailer. The trailer is equipped with the Steadystand, a wheel clamp also designed and produced by Acebikes, that secures the bike in an upright position without any further aid. You don’t need to use the kickstand! Then, just a few strokes with the hydraulic hand pump brings the loading deck back to its original level, allowing you to attach the lashing straps with ease, and off you go!

The DOWN LOADER can be attached to the back of a car and doesn’t need to be uncoupled first before you can load it. Further, the trailer hitch is adjustable in height and can therefore be adapted to the draw bar height of any vehicle. The lifting system can be locked in place in both the low and high position, making theft impossible.
In storage, the DOWN LOADER takes up little space since the deck in its lowered position functions as the bike parking place, keeping it both safe and protected.

Weighing 215 kilogrammes and with a loading capacity of 535 kilogrammes, the DOWN LOADER can handle every motorcycle. The adjustable Steadystand is suitable for every tyre size. So now even the bulkiest touring monster can easily be transported. The first series of trailers has already been deliverd to their new owners.

Acebikes is extremely pleased that the unique lifting technique of the DOWN LOADER has been nominated for the innovation award offered by the Dutch government for the best invention of the year 2006. The Dutch patent application for the lifting system has been filed.
